I was wondering why the RB26 motor has an awkward slant to the head. Why is it not sit parallel to the ground?

A lot of straight 6's are slanted.. it isn't that the head is slanted the whole motor is slanted. Only the oil pan is level the ground. Doing this you lower the center of gravity as well a lower hood line.

However the RB is already a short enough block that this isn't the case. But if you look at the exhaust side, with all the turbo's and piping. Chances are the engineers designed it to be slanted to buy more room on that side of the engine.

Sweet that makes sense. My straight six cummins diesel is not slanted at all, which is why I asked.

Thanks
