the past couple of weeks there has been a grinding sound everytime i start the car, after a few minutes the sound disappears. someone told me to check the oil stick and there if air bubbles on the stick that means the timing chain is going. i was told by someone else the air bubbles on the oil stick and the grinding is being caused by faulty oil pump!? which sounded odd since the oil light has never come on. however the problem happens 80percent of the time so i am really confused what it could be? has anyone had similar problems.?

I'd check out the chain guides.

The oil light only comes on at extremely low oil pressure, 8psi or somthing like that IIRC. It is still entirely possible to have low oil pressure and not have the light on. The best way to check it is to hook up a gauge and check it.
