engine problem?

when i start my car if i dont give it gas then it will die so i have to rev it for 10 secs or so then if i let off the pedal it idles rough for a minute or 2 its a 5 speed manual 240sx 1990...any suggestions?

does it do that all the time or only when the engine is cold?if it only does it when the engine is cold, check the air regulator. it's a valve on your intake manifold that has two wires going to it that lets extra air bypass the throttle body when the engine is cold to provide a stable idle.
