Its an '89 240 with about 150 miles on the KA24E. It was running good, no oil burning except it needed a timing chain. So i got it replaced but the shop timed it completely wrong, apparantly the engine was pinging, then went into limp mode and was hardly running. I took it into the dealership where they charged me $300 to re-time everything properly. Now the engine burns a lot of oil, about 1 litre every week and a half, and when revs over 3500 you can hear a clicking noise coming from the engine, but not a rattling like the timing chain. The dealership says that having the timing screwed up could have no way made it burn oil. But it went from burning nothing to a hell of a lot. Any theories of what it could be??? :help

How did you determine the 1L/week figure? Do you see oil on the ground underneath the car? If so, can you see it drip? If there's no leak and your engine is burning the oil, do you see puffs of white smoke leave the exhaust when you start the car?

My theories :squint Worn piston rings, check PCV valve, intake manifold may leak, leaky injector seals. Use a heavier oil, try an oil treatment additive. Take it to a good shop for a diagnosis.
