Hey I wanted your opinion on a S13 Sr20det price a friend of mine got. It is a RWD engine, transmission, and ecu motor set. it has been compression tested and the parts look decent. They asked 1400 for it. What do you guys think is it worth it or to good to be true??

Also I heard that the ecu sticker number had to 62 or else the ecu wouldn't work is that true??

thanks appreciate your help.

Where was this deal from? ebay? LOL.. If there's no wiring harness, forget it. I don't know about the ECU code but there's gotta be a reason why that thing is that cheap. I'm thinking its in bad condition, miss n matched parts, or no harness.

Spidey, where are you getting your engine from? The ECU code is 62, so if it doesn't have that, it's the wrong ECU and make sure the harness, mafs and ignitor are there. I'm in socal too, so if you need any help, I might be willing to help out a fellow SR swapper. #61 is for the automatic transmission, so DEFINITELY don't try that one. If I were you, I wouldn't spend less than $2000 for a motorset. Call wayne at phase2, tell him ryan sent you, and he'll fix you up.

Wayne usually gets front clips only so it'll be a minimum chance of getting a complete motorset from Wayne.

Your best bet is to try cartune motorsports( http://www.cartunemotorsports.com ) or try SC Imports out in Cudahy (323) 560-3902 or (323) 560-4093 and ask for Nelson. I remember he had complete motorsets in for about $1700-1800.

As long as that clip had everything in it, and the engine was in good condition and wasnt abused to noticable hell.

Open the oil filler and see if the cam lobe is scratched at all, take the valve cover off and see if it's real dirty or not, pull the transmission off and look at the clutch/flywheel/TO bearing, how dirty is the engine oil and transmission fluid... stuff like that.

Waiting for my stupid friend to get home so I can go finish it up tonight, my FMIC got here yesterday and we get to bust out the saw and remove my chances of surviving a front end collision if I ever get into one. But my intake charge will be colder, so SCREW IT MUAHAHAHA.
