You have to use a custom crank to get the 5 liters? What rods and pistons you using? Looking good by the way, can't wait to see it, I've seen Slims before, and they're nice.

Very nice! Looks like it is going to a powerful engine.

Do you think the 5mm overbore takes away strength from the block? I was thinking along the lines of forced induction.

From the pics, it looks there is plenty of metal between the cylinders. I wonder if the Darton MID sleeves could be used on the VH. Then one might be able to go over 100mm safely.

Best of wishes with your project.

Pistons and rods were custom made for me. Crank is stock, bigger capacity is from 98mm overbore.

Overbore must loose some strength but the engine builder is happy it'll be fine. Some in NZ are apparently 4". The liners are some sort of really strong steel, they were expensive anyway!! Can find out what material / spec if you're interested.

Thanks for the comments.

man that is lookin good, block looks like it should definately be able to hold that, being that the cylinder walls are still fairly thick. (you should see the new corvette Z06 LS7 block, the walls are paper thin)

i think i'll start with the escort pistons though, maybe i'll go with the overbore and custom rods and pistons eventually and try and mimic your build if i'm not satisfied with the power i put down

Those things seam aweful expensive. You might also contact BRC Performance (http://www.brcperformance.com) about getting some custom made. I know for a V6 they charge about $605 for the set and do very good work. It should only be marginally more for a V8. I bet it would be half as much as the Escort pistons are.

Turbo... the replacement for displacement.

Very awesome build indeed! That thing will definitley be a monster.

i'll definately look into it, thanks

i'm a little biased towards Escort, being that i have a Z32 and they primarily work on Z32, but i'm always open to options, like i said, i'm trying to figure the best game plan before i actually start the build
