So my sohc is on it's way out, well, kinda. I've looked high and low for a replacement ka, e or de and can't find much for adecent price. I was wanting to go ca, but that's around 2500 for everything, plus I don't care about having a turbo. I searched a little on the non turbo sr, everyone on every forum says they can get the whole swap for under a grand shipped. Where are these cheap motors?

Try some local japanese import shops around your area. I hear bad things from big online places like Japanstar. Atleast other places have a good warranty, most of them are 90 days. And if something is bad, you can easily take it back without having to worry about shipping costs.

I hear a couple SR20's will pull a premium before race wars.

you should go snag a old L28 engine out of a 280z, and toss it in NA

Cheaps swaps are out there. Whatever you do inspect timing belt if equipped, replaces belts, drop oil pan, check and clean strainer, plugs, replace water pump and T-stat and do injector O-rings and check it over real well.

Thanks guys, I have no idea what I want to do with the car. I'm really thinking a dohc ka, I work at Midas and am allowed to use the shop after hours as much as I want. Still don't know if I could start on Saturday and be done by Sunday night. Probably not. Would the Ka from a frontier be fine to use? Or d21? Whichever.
