I'm going to call my dealership tomorrow for an appointment, but I figured I'd ask around for some ideas beforehand since I probably won't be able to take my car there until Saturday (it's an hour away).
I have a 2008 SL that has been fine since I bought it in May, but just started having some issues with not being able to "catch" right away when I turn the ignition. It doesn't happen every time, but probably at least every other right now. Sometimes if I release and try again right away it will start just fine, but other times it will shudder a bit and be okay. Or it will shudder a bit and die (that's only happened once, I think). Yesterday I stopped at the grocery store on my way home from work and it took three tries to get it started, and the brake pedal locked after the first try.
I've experienced a dying battery before, but that doesn't seem to be the issue. It's turning over perfectly well, it just isn't catching. I also considered that maybe it had to do with the fob's battery (I don't know, I've never had the keyless stuff before so I'm not sure what happens if that battery goes kaput), but using the actual key didn't seem to make a difference.
Any ideas??
