Okay, I have two problems. They may be related, maybe not.
I own a 1995 240SX SE: AT, 115k, All stock parts.
1) Last week, There was a temperature spike while pulling out of my friends drive-way. My car has never had issues with temp until recently. The engine temperature gauge shot up past the "H". I turned immediately around and shut off the engine. Waited 10 minutes and started it up. Now the gauge struggles to get above the "C". I immediately replaced the thermostat. Replaced all the water/anti-freeze/coolant. My chiltons manual says the radiator holds around 7 quarts of coolant. I drained about 4 1/2 quarts out, so I was already low according to the book. I filled the radiator as much as it would take, and put some more in a completely dry resevoir. Let the car idle for 30 min. Both radiator hoses cold, radiator cap cold, head warm, temperature gauge not moving of of the rest needle. Took the car out to try and bring it up to temp. No movement on temp gauge. Hoses and cap still cold after a week, but water in the resevoir has dropped suggesting that the engine has replaced any air that may have gotten into the cooling system to be replaced with fluid in the resevior. So, my problem here is: A) Engine, radiator cap, and radiator hoses are cold to the touch. B) Temperature gauge is showing a reading on "C" where it normally sits in the middle of "H" and "C"
2) While driving the car after replacing the thermostat (see above). The in car temperature never came up. Heater on full blast and it actually was cold air blowing out of the vents. The temp of the air coming out is not enough to defrost/defog the windows in the car. I have been told I could have a "Plugged" or blocked heater core.
Please help.
