i have an mtx 2 channel amp running my back 6-1/2. my left channel makes a crazy engine noise when my car is onright now im running both speakers off the right channel. The noise increases with rpm but doesnt increase when the volume is turned up. it sounds like a super high revving turbo or something.it makes the noise whn the rca lines are unplugged too so i think it might be ground noise or something, or a broke My battery is in the trunk and i have a 1.5 fared capacitor. thanks for your help

make sure you have good grounds and most importantly, make sure your rca and power wire are not ran to your trunk side by side, they should be as far apart from each other as possible.

If it is just the left channel, make sure you don't have a problem with your RCA connections. Swap the left and right inputs. If the engine noise goes to the other side, replace the RCA's. If that does not fix the problem, try a new speaker wire for that speaker. If that does not work, remove the speaker from the door and see if the sound goes away or simply try another test speaker. If the noise is still there, you have an internal problem with your amp.

try doing what I said first. 9.9 times out of 10 the problem lies in either the grounds or the power wire is run next to the rca's.

While I would normally agree with you, he stated the problem only happens on one speaker. That is not a sign of a amp grounding problem since both channels of the amp are not experiencing engine noise. To determine if the issue is pre-amp, the simple/easy test is to swap the L+R input leads to see if the noise is coming from the RCA's/headunit as this test will only take a few seconds instead of pulling the whole vehicle apart to seperate the wiring. If the noise stays with the speaker, the problem is either the amp or the amp-speaker connection.

good point, i didn't read it was only through one speaker. Is the amp bridged to both speakers or are you running stereo?
