On so last night I was riding down the highway with my passager window down and the sunroof so off completely. When was driving I heard a bumoing noise coming from the back. So I continue driving home and when i got home I put the car in neutral and popped the hood. I listen to the sound and there was two different noise coming from the motor. The first noise I identified as the fan but the second was coming from the motor itself. ut it wasn't a loud sound more of a soft ticking or clicking noise. So I decided to go out on the road again. this time I crack the sunroof and roled the window down again. The car rode normal and I didn't hear the noise at all and it had a strong take off. So I came back to my apt and call a friend he said it's normal cause the car has an estimate of 380k miles on the stock motor. So I was wonder is this a big issue or should I shake it off cuase I swipping the motor over to a SR20 next june or july.

take off your engine cover, ( top )

its most likely your chain guard broke off, its very usual to a 240 after some 200K miles.

take it off then close your engine up .. then your other could be a fan bearing ? i have no clue what the noise is but im thinking it is.. because i had both come at me at same time with my 240 @ 220K miles
