sounds similar to the problem i was having with my car. I have a white 2.5S coupe with an axle back exhaust and the engine/transmission had a whining noise when it was under stress and heat. if your car is a cvt automatic, get it checked out at the dealership. it could be covered under the warranty, in my case, that wasnt the problem but i had to replace the cvt fluid. I also had to replace damaged cv boots/ axles and the drive belt. I haven't heard the noise since the repairs. if you have a manual trans, then maybe it could be the axle or cv joints?

Yep sounds like a CVT problem. I believe that the CVT warranty goes till 120,000 miles (correct me if I'm wrong). But yeah head to the stearlership hopefully they will take care of you and probably do a flush and fluid replacement, I believe is the first course of action when it comes to the CVT.

If they say you need a fluid replacement, ask around for estimates before getting it done. You can probably get it done from a private mechanic for half the price, but make sure they use the OEM fluid, otherwise the warranty can be void. Check out my thread for more info.
