engine noise has me worried

It's pretty quiet right now and hard to hear... but i notice it.

IF i put a big screw driver near cylinder and put my ear on it... it sounds like one of those old fashion bell alarm clocks.

I hope to God that id on't have some big repair coming.

What do you guys think? Thanks in advance for the help.

I'm sorry. It's a 1998 Nissan Pathfinder LE with the 3.3. It has 92k miles.

What if by chance I do have a lifter noise? Is that a big deal? Will it turn into one?

I think it is the exhaust though. My truck is running louder today than it did when i bought it.
