Someone please help me. I have my CA18DET in my 93 Hatch. The only problem arising at the moment is that the transmission refuses to want to line up with the driveshaft properly and will, therefore, not let the crossmember line up with the holes to mount it :( Is there something I am missing. I had the rear of the car on jackstands to be able to rotate the driveshaft but it just says no. It's really pissing me off now. The engine has been mounted since Monday and I got the time today to mount the trans etc. Someone tell me what I'm missing or doing wrong.

Thanks!~Ian

what i do, is i loosen the two bolts holding the transmission mount to the transmission crossmember. that lets me slide the thing around a little bit to get a bolt or two in. i don't have the driveshaft connected when i do this. i don't have the shifter in either. also i loosen the motor mount bolts so i can sway the motor around a little bit. you can try jacking up the rear of the engine to try and balance the motorset a little better so it lines up. don't strip out those four bolt holes.

is the misalignment horizontal or vertical? You should not have this problem, explain in more detail.

ok, the diagram is below in the attachment thing(sorry for the poor quality)

Key for Roman Numerals:I-DriveshaftII-Spindly thing that goes in trans and bolts to end of driveshaftIII-bolt holes on chassisIV-transmission crossmember and bolt holesV-transmission

Ok...the problem is that the transmission will not come towards the rear of the car far enough for all the crossmember holes to line up on the chassis holes. Its pissing me off cuz the motor is on its mounts but still wont allow the transmission to come back. Also, when the driveshaft is partially bolted to the spindly thing it shows the gap abd wont bolt completely up. Someone please help me.

are you using USDM crossmember.. a 89-90 driveshaft. i believe the drive shaft is a bit to short and doesnt go all the way up into the transmission, mine doesnt and i think movingviolation had that too .. hmmm

no, mine is a 93 so the driveshaft should be long enough. should i switch to the USDM crossmember? I have been using the JDM one. will it be ok if the drivesahft doesnt quite bolts up all the way?

The CA five speed crossmember should have the flat edge to the front and the edge with the ears \___/ to the back. Lokking at your diagram the ears look to be aiming foward. If that is the case you have an automatic crossmember, no good.

i think i may have just drawn the diagram incorrectly. i'll just swap to the USDM one anyways, its not a big deal. thanks
