I don't think that I'll ever be wanting more than 300 RWHP, and probably only around 200 RWHP for the moment.
If so.....whats a good brand? ( that doesn't cost an arm and a leg ).
and what about a turbo?......would prefer not to have to have a new manifold....so does that limit me to a T28?If so.....is a T28 capable of reliably producing 300 RWHP?what are my other options?
I already have:new rings and bearingsnew clutch3" exhaustVR4 FMICDSM 450cc injectorsand a filter.oh yeah....it's in a 940kg Datsun 1600, so there is no A/C or power steering to worry about either
cheers for any info!
If you got the $$$s to toss, then go for it. But if you're looking for a solid bottom end to support around 200-300ish HP, the get you some new rings and clean up your bottom end. The stock CA18DET pistons aren't as weak as many claim. Once again, fuel and timing is the key. A T28 turbocharger will possibly support 300hp at the crank, but I won't be pushing for it at the wheels. Save your money and clean-up your engine with rings, new headgasket, re-shotpeened rods, new headbolts, new rod and main bearings, seals, etc, etc. All of these come up to less than $500 U.S. dollars for a clean fresh start. I've always had 300+whp on an everyday car with A/C and P/S on the stock CA and it does just fine. Oh yeah, it lasts as well.
