I bought a 89' 240sx with a blown ka24e for real cheap, and i really need a car to drive daily so im in the middle of swapping in another ka24e. i pulled just the engine, without the transmission. i also disconnected the block from the mounts from up top. so when i go to put the new one back in at first i tried to slide it back in the transmission, then was going to try to slip it onto the mounts. no dice.. so i disconnected the crossmember and let the transmission hang there so i had enough room to drop the engine on the mounts. i just can't get the engine to line up on both the bolts. i can get one on, but the other is too far. im pretty sure it's because the engine isn't completely level when i lower it down, but i cannot lower it in any other way. im thinking would it be easier for me to take the mounts right off, and put them onto the block. i have the brackets on there, just not that actual mounts. anybody else know of an easier way? im sick of walking to school

The top part of the motor mounts is a "U" shaped bracket that bolts to the block. Remove the top bolts and loosen the bottom ones; now you can partly swivel both mounts inward which should do the trick.
