AZ Hitman had mentioned to me that there was a procedure for measureing the amount the engine moves while in gear to see if the mounts are worn. Does anyone have the specifics on this procedure?

1) Start car. 2) Lift hood. 3) With foot on brake, put car into drive and lightly accelerate to 1200-- 1500 RPM and have a second person watch to see if the engine moves in the bay. If it twists, or goes up or down your mounts are shot. (procedure as previously described by Q45tech)

Usually not a problem till at least 7 years and or 100,000 miles.Areas with lots of winter salt may fail sooner.

Changed mine on 90 Q at 125,000 getting close to 250k now [exactly] 6 years later thinking about doing it again probably wait another year.My 2 year old [30k] transmission mount is starting to sag again for the 3rd time.

Imagine that! I just crossed the 100k mark this morning on the way to work:). Ill have a friend look while i do the above procedure. Also...can the transmission mount cause the transmission to buck a little on downshifts?
