Today I went and got my car ready to receive its new engine, but I noticed that (no surprise here) my engine mounts are shot. They were never the correct engine mounts anyway, so more reason to throw them in the garbage.

Sadly, I gave my 30k km ca18 factory mounts to a member in need on here years ago. Not my smoothest of moves but hey, the guy was really grateful.

My dilemma is this: Freaking scabs want something like $350 for a pair of NISMO ca-specific engine mounts. I am NOT paying $350 for some engine mounts. Its the principle of the thing.

Does anyone know of any other companies that make ca18-specific engine mounts? Does someone want to sell me some ca18-specific engine mounts? Im willing to explore any and all options that don't involve me servicing anyone sexually. Unless of course you are Penelope Cruz circa-2002. Then we can talk.

I would rather not resort to making solid mounts, as I plan to actually drive the car places. If I have to, I can and will, but I would like to see if I have other options first.

I should clarify that I don't really care if they are super-ultra-high-performance or not, I just want correct CA18DET engine mounts.

Tim, I think you're stuck. AFAIK, NISMO are the only CA specific mounts. Since the SR and KA both use the same mounts, there is little to no demand for the CA specific mounts. Sorry brosef.

Welp, that's the blouse. Guess I will have to suck it up and pay then.

I found a pair new on ebay Australia for $160 + shipping, but I really don't want to wait a month for them to show up. However, this does provide significant evidence that everyone in the US selling these things are a bunch of crooks.

I'm really hoping someone from like, Latvia will chime in and say they have a mountain of NOS Group N mounts from a s12 rally car or something, but I have a feeling the chances of that happening are less than zero.

I have Hardrace mounts, think they are CA specific.
At least they fit.

Do you know if the engine sits with the proper amount of lean when its in the engine bay?

Apparently Nengun.com has CA18-specific NISMO mounts at $73.35 each, which is what they SHOULD cost if everyone wasn't a damn burglar. Has anyone dealt with them before? Legit company?

Oh, great. Just read their terms. "Item usually ships EIGHTEEN (18) days after payment." Seriously y'all? This is 2013. Get with the program.

I need a new steering wheel for my car (leather shot + advanced mold) and I just came across this gem on ebay:

Someone buy it.

Hockey puck motor mounts just aren't my style. I considered it, but I would much rather have the Nismo mounts.

That said, I just bought a set of Nismo mounts from a company called Japex Trading out of Japan. Very courteous and prompt staff, and they had the mounts for $83/ea. So far, I have nothing but nice things to say about them.

Are there much difference between the CA and the SR mounts?

The CA has its own specific mounts. It is supposed to sit at an angle in the engine bay, and the SR mounts make it sit relatively flat by comparison. Also, the SR mounts don't quite line up right, and you have to work the engine back and forth a little to make the engine drop down on to them. Not a huge deal, but when you remove the engine all the time like me, its nice to have all the help you can get. Should give a little more clearance between the exhaust and the steering shaft too.

it's a huge deal!
if you use SR/KA mounts, it will squish the trans mount to one side so much, it'll stay squished like that... the engine and trans were designed to lean over to the left side of the car, so if you used the SR/KA mounts which is intended to keep the motor straight, the transmission will no longer be in the proper position, and this makes the shifter lean way over to the right

the proper CA mounts have less rubber on the left, but more rubber on the right, this makes the motor lean over properly, and with that, the transmission will be positioned properly and shifter will be centered

BioSehnsucht used the SR/KA Nismo mounts when he first did his swap, the shifter was way off center towards the right, and once he got sick of it, it was already too late... when he swapped over to the proper Nismo CA mounts, the Nismo trans mount was permanently deformed and ever since then the shifter is still slightly off center towards the right

do it right and get the CA mounts! Nismo or stock, doesn't matter... I'm sure you can find aftermarket stock replacements from the UK or some other European country... maybe detworks in hong kong can help too? the CA was officially sold there too

I've used a pair of these. Cab mounts/bushings (?) for an East German medium truck.

They cost about $3 a piece. Works quite well for me, and for a lot of people in the amateur circles of motorsports in these parts... :) The engine doesn't shake on idle, on rpm's, it barely shakes while cranking, and when I grab onto the engine, I move the chassis with it. Maybe I'll have problems later, with more torque and traction.

Only problem was, they are a bit low in overall height, we had to put in 10mm thick aluminum spacers to raise it to the seemingly stock height.

BUT I have the same for left and right, and my engine doesn't seem to be leaning the wrong way... it leans slightly left, and the top of the intake manifold seems level. Or does it?

The shifter is also quite nicely in the middle of the hole, to my eye, and the trans mount didn't seem to be twisting, either. No pics about that, though.
