The engine mounts in my 92 240sx are basically gone, I searched here and found out how to install them. The install is pretty much straight forward if not for the 16+ year old bolts, two of them stripped to hell and had to be cut off. Not fun when its 20 below zero and I had to lay on the floor with only cardboard.

I have a few questions for those who installed engine mounts before (KA24):

1)The lower side of the mount (the “shiny” side with the nipple). Does it matter of its position in the “slit”? How do I explain this? Well….. you know the lower stud from the mount goes in a vertical slit, and the nipple have to fit in the slit also. I got the nipple to align and fit in vertical slit. But from the old nut marks the nut on the passenger seems to be a little big higher then the org position, about a quarter inch (as opposed to all the way down on the slit from factory). No matter how I jack up/down the engine/trans it’s the lowest it will go. I am just wondering if anybody else experienced the same thing? Is it ok this way? Basically as long as the mount bolts up fine and tight with the “nipple” in the slit its doesn’t really matter if it’s the same on both sides (driver side all the way down, passenger side is about 1/4 inch higher on the slit)?????

2)Also how did you guys torque the bottom nut on the engine mount? I tried to torque everything to spec, but I could not fit my torque wrench in there, especially with the use of a long extension required to reach that nut. So I just torque them as much as I can with my hands.

Sorry if my post seems kind of weird, I am pretty new to 240’s. if any body got any input on this subject please let me know. Just worried about the 1/4 inch passenger side issue.

Thanks in advance.
