engine missing

I have had my 93 fb for about a year now and it has always had a very small mis at low rpms and accelerating slowly. it almost seems like it is not missing but it just doesnt make the power it should. once you get on it and the rpms get above say 4000rpm you can feel the engine making more power like it is a vtec. and it seems to be running a little rich. i have done a complete engine rebuild/tune up about 1000 miles ago and checked the egr valve. it does better but the problem is still there. oh yeh it seems worse when it is cold. it is really starting to get on my nerves. i am thinking maybe the coil or distributor is going out. has anyone had this problem? sorry for the long post but any help will be appreciated. i posted this in the tec. forum but didnt get to many replies so i am posting it here now.

that sounds like a closed loop malfunctionunplug o2 sensor to see if that helpsalso verify that your swirl control valve is functioning as it sounds like it may be stuck openwhat kind of rebuild?

i have not had the check engine light come on but i will try that when i get home frome work next week. my engine doesnt have the swirl valves in the intake i checked while i had the engine torn down. and the rebuild was just back to stock. i want to add a mild turbo kit later. thanks for the help.

no prob, i will also mention that i hope you have new oem plugs, wires, cap and rotor.

i tried to unplug the o2 sensor but it made no differance. i run a dignostic test on the computer but there were no codes. also i noticed yesterday while i was following my friend who was driving my car that when he drove it hard and then let off a small puff of smoke came out. the only good thing it seems to be getting worse so maybe i can figure it out before i lose my mind

the puff of smoke could be anything. fuel is prob off. try messing with things that adjsut a/f ratio. try messing with the maf, ect, etc. i will say its possibly an ignition component as you mentioned but it sounds more like fuel to me.

Thanks for the help. I finnaly got home from work in Mexico and cheched my maf. It was dirty on the inside. All i had to do was clean it with carb. cleaner and reinstall. Now it run great!
