Hey it's kinda my first time posting for real help in Nico. I have a 92 300zx 2+2 NA, with some troubles. It's misfiring and I located the issue, but don't know the proper way to fix it. My injector clip, the plastic piece broke with old age. The 3 prong clip that plugs into the top of the injector therefore is ruined? Am I wrong? Should I buy a new 3 prong click and wire it in? Is this the real cause for misfire?

Also, I'm getting a check engine because of my EGR valve. I've searched the internet diagrams of the vg30 de with no help as to where the EGR is.

When I do find it how do I clean it? or should I buy a new Egr...

After I get taht finished, I'm planning on doing straight piping. I Have dual magna flows already installed, I just want the performance of less restricted air flow? CAn someone help me with the stages?

good idea? bad idea?

if it is old and worn it could posibly be your problem.

The egr looks like so, good luck taking it off. It's on the intake manifold, the bottom half. On the back right by the firewall. I myslef am trying to take it off...

I got it off without pulling the engine but i had to bend a few wrenchs, you should also get some Mr. bubble go over all ur vacume hoses and put like 10psi through the system look for leaks b.c that would make it run ruff, after that check injectors.

Egr is located on rear of lower intake, with two 12 mm bolts.. If your wanting to remove it without pulling the motor you can pull the trans. Its still going to be a pain because of the coolant tubes back there.. The valve wont give you a misfire, but can cause issues with the idle.. Check on the rear of the upper intake passengers side for a vacume that goes to the egr to make it work. That hose can break and cause a issue. Do you have a code for that and what # code is it.. Ive not seen many issues with egrs before. As for the injectors, pull off all the connectors and clean the nasty out where the plug goes into the top of the injector, thats a very big problem with the early models..

as for th injector clip, if the plastic around it is breaking (Which is common for our cars, seeing as how 10+ years of heat gets to the connectors and makes them very brittle *another excuse for a nice vented hood lol*) as long as the connector is down enough to be making a positive connection to the injector, you should be fine. Make sure all your connectors are clean and down as far as they can be. If the clip is bad enough that it wont stay down, then yes buy a new one and splice it in (solder it dont just use crimp connectors and half *** it). As for the EGR, like brad said, without pulling the motor the EGR is a ***** (even with the trans pulled). I havnt seen many (if any) EGR problems either...
