Hot off the presses: Electromotive makes a TEC3 kit including crank trigger for KA24DE. Haltech also makes one that is compatible with the KA optical sensor. I've seen both and lean towards the TEC3.

Is this a setup with pre-made wiring loom? What is the cost? Are there any preset maps for it?

All stand alones come with a flying lead loom which means you have to manually connect each input/output to the ECM. It is not plug and play. There is nothing out there that is plug and play as regards to standalone. The TEC3 runs about 2500 and it comes with a wizard to get the base map and car running. Very easy to use.

Link ecu's are standalone and you purchase a wiring loom for them. I just thought that maybe that's what he meant by standalone for the ka24de.

Too expensive for me anyway for 2500.

I have a LinkPlus, and one of the good things about the LinkPlus is that is uses your stock sensors, AND you can pay I think $200 or $250 extra and they make it plug and play, where you just plug it into your stock harness.

What did you pay for the Link Plus, and what was inluded in the price? Did you have to purchase additional devices?

I got the LinkPlus, flying lead loom, 4 ballast resistors for low impedence injectors, the pc-link box for hooking up to a laptop, and single channel igniter for a little over $1300. I got it from Macc Engineering http://www.sandstallion.com

Try these guys. Their stand-alones are pretty reasonably priced and I have heard nothing but good from their products also they have great tech pages.http://www.sdsefi.com/

aem(very expensive) plugs right into your harness. tec3, apexi, accel gen 7, and the one i may install in my ka25det(yes bored out to a 2.5 litre) is a simple digital systems standalone, which has a harness, you can go to coil packs and illiminate your distributor, also a 3 bar map sensor and a whole host of other goodies that can be added to the sds.
