Engine Management System and Shift Light?

I have the older version of Engine Management System's 8860 which is the 4860. That being clear, I am trying to wire-up an Autometer Quick-Lite (rpm shiftlight) using the Autometer RPM Activated Module which uses the selective pills for activating the light at a certain RPM. I tapped into the EMS wiring harness via the yellow/green wire for tach signal. When I start the car, the Quick-Lite illuminates as it should indicating power and signal. I started with a low pill (3.0 for 3000rpm) to which I get nothing all the way to 7500rpm. So it got me thinking ... (1) maybe there's a contradiction in signal between the EMS set rev limit and the RPM Activated Module, (2) maybe I should bypass the EMS tach signal wire and tap into the factory wire at the dash tachometer, (3) maybe not use the Autometer module and tap the light right to the EMS tach signal wire (which I think light needs the module to process though)? I guess if the rev limit was not specified in the EMS programming, shouldn't the Autometer module pick up on the RPMs and the specific pill work? The guy that originally programmed the EMS is no longer around and I don't yet have the cables to hook it to my laptop. I don't know if the rev limit was ever specified so until I get the unit hooked to the laptop I won't know.

Anyway, if anyone uses the EMS (or another aftermarket management system) and has wired a shift light and can make sense of my delima, it as always is most appreciated! I'll post this in the KA-T forum too, but I thought this area would also be appropriate. THANKS!
