i have my turbo setup, but i am holding off until i figure out how to do the fuel and ignition control. i have heard good stuff about the aem ems, but i dont have that kind of money. I have bought i safc2, but it doesnt control timing. i have already broke my motor in aprox. 1400 miles. i heard that it isnt safe to run over 12psi on stock timing. i also want to get something that i can street tune. i dont want to go to the dyno to tune everytime i add a mod or want to change something. the dyno here in tusa is $120 an hour. any suggestions?

ps wanting to run 7-12 psi low boost and 15-20psi high

a safc2 cannot tune without a dyno or wideband 02 sensor.....since you dont want to go to a dyno all the time, you should invest in a wideband 02 sensor which is about 300$ but is very useful.

12psi for stock timing and 91 octane is very risky dont even try it. i dont know about 03 octane but 12psi is still pretty high. you can either retard base timing or buy a msd btm to retard timing automatically during boost. either that or you can go with alcohol or water injection and dont retard timing at all because of the cooling effect it gives.

make sure to gap your spark plugs too

I would recommend getting a standalone, or JWT tuned ecu for anything over 8psi as you will need to get

1) a new maf2) bigger injectors3) a lot of fuel and ignition tuning

Using SAFC/Emanage will work for low boost, but as soon as you change your injector size and/or maf, you will need to retune your whole ignition map.

Try extreme auto @ 6810 e 40th st in Tulsa. That is where I will be tuning mine and they are only like 50-60 bucks an hour on a dynojet, unless you want them to tune it. Where do you live and how close are you to being done with your car? I live right by drillers stadium

you wouldn't want to run a low/hi boost setup on an safc(i believe after 550cc injectors the safc can't control well) as i don't think that'll be able to control the fuel flow @ 20psi, i'd recommend a stand-alone then.

if you wanna run just 12 psi the safc + msd btm will be fine.(the msd btm retards timing when it sees boost, and you can set to how much you want it to retard per psig i believe)

the emanage has both injector and mass airflow correction features to automatically calculate the new settings for timing and fuel if you were to upgrade hardware. fuel will need to be re-fine tuned just as it would with any standalone, but timing will be set.

I would look into the new emanage ultimate, looks like a nice piece. If you are not the DIY type of guy you cant beat a ECU retune from JWT or Enthalpy or whoever does it for you.

DUDE SELL YOUR SAFC DO NOT GET JWT ITS CRAP GET EPATHY OR AEM. DO NO USE MSD RETARD i hear horror stories about it. search i posted where sr guys compared epathy with jwt same psi 40hp more on epathy . so try to stay away from jwt and piggybacks . just get stanalone and go on dyno they will tune stanadalone for you for timing a&f ratios . if aem is pricey than look into already assemled megasquirt or into rom burning . but doa search on gogle for standalone in general not for ka24e(de other turbo cars, ka haven't been tuned long enough and you will see why u want a stanalone vs piggybacks etc

i have a MSD 6BTM for sale...i used it as my timing control. it's the unit with the more powerful ignition plus the 'boost timing master' where you can dial in the timing retard per pound of boost..
