Most of the SR owners are not running standalone (it seems to me). Only Standalone street driven car i've seen was running Electromtive. Many are not modded enough to need EMS yet, many are using the various APEXI fuel computers. Greddy E-manage is gaining popularity.. I'll probably go that way for its simplicity.

What are you lookin go make? What are you looking to spend? There is a big step there from 'easy' to 'best' in both price and complexity.

The Haltech System is very comprehensive and can supply anything you can throw at it. This versitiality comes at a price... :)

I have a standalone question for the SR. If I where to pick up an SR without ECU and cut harness for 1500. I could get a standalone system (haltech or tech II) and be better off then spending 2500 for a full swap. Plus I know of a place local that I can get an engine from today if I wanted. What I would like to know is if it is possable to run the stock KA ignition system on the SR. Will the KA dist bolt up to the SR and work? If that is possable then it would be alot easier to get the standalone system to work (don't have to wire up each coil) I have heard of Jim Wolf making KA dist and ECU's to work on the SR with the ECU reporgramed and something moded on the dist.

Go with electromotive tech 3. Easily learnable software programming for you engine. Comes with its own ignition system with high output coil packs and many inputs to control boost, secondary injectors, etc. Also doesn't need a MAF runs the entire motor off of MAP which it picks up from an easy to install crank angle sensor. It what alot of porche owners run around my town. It may be a little more pricey than others but hey you get what you pay for. It does require a laptop tho.

Tech III is nice but a Tech II can be picked up for around 500-800 used and is a very simple setup. The tech III does have alot more features and used a more programer friendly software. My other choice is a Haltech EK6 which you can get for about 1100. I am stil wondering if the KA dist will fit in the SR's crank sensor hole and will work.

Haltech EK6 does not have a sequential fuel injecton capabilities so expect a bit of back firing with the EK6. The e11 can run 12 injectors total if you needed that much extra fuel. I've seen DSM's running Haltech's and run 2 injectors to each cylinder.
