Hi,I have Altima Coupe 2.5SMy engine is making a weird noise for like 10-15 sec on a cold start, after that its fine. Should i go see the dealership where i purchased the car or give it a week to see if it continues?

Anyone having similar issues?

Thx in advance.

What type of gas is pumped into it? If you pumped premium, that is probably why. I also have a 2.5 and i tried using premium but the engine chokes when i try to start it.

Could you describe the noise that your car is experiencing?

Good day, yes! its an actual know issue with new altimas. You need to schedule a maintanance appointment with the dealer and they need to re-program your computer ( ithink its called the ECM) not sure, but yes' i get the same thing.. and no, it has nothing to do with the gas.

Hi, my 07 Altima sedan is currently in the shop for this exact issue. (My sister's 07 Altima also had the same issue (along with the console lid breaking off and the stereo no longer functioning after three weeks of ownership).

I had to take my Altima in two weeks ago to have the fuel sending unit replaced (my car wouldn't register losing gas after half a tank) and I told the shop the excessive engine noise my car was producing on cold starts. When I picked the car up, they told me nothing was wrong. I then called the dealership where my sister had her work done (they told her many Altimas were coming in with excessive engine noise on start) and got the TSB number and then called another Nissan service center. They told me that my car would have to be California emissions to have the re-programming done (as other post mentions). It turned out to be California emissions (I'm in NYS) and I brought it in. I'm now told that after the re-programming, the noise is twice as intense as it was before so unfortunately, it didn't solve my issue. (Made it worse apparently).

Not sure if anyone else is having this, but I also get a heavy ringing noise in the engine for about the first twenty minutes of driving it. I don't know what happened to Nissan quality but honestly, it has taken a dive. I grew up on Datsuns and previous Nissans in my family and never had these kinds of problems upon initial ownership.

I'll be droping off my car on Septemeber 18 so ill see what they say, hopefuly they can fix it. Do you think they will they give me trouble about my aftermarket alarm with remote start? I decided to buy a brand new car so i would not have these types of problems man this sucks.

Depends if you spliced nissan wires i think... Dont be going to gangster BK shops and expect Nissan to honor warranty.. In addition dont park on side streets unless you want your HID ripped from your car...

Just wanted to add, they found a loose nut/bolt on the exhaust system. That was apparently the cause for the noise! (Might want to telll them to check the tightness of the screws on the exhaust as well).

Ok,I got my car back and they fixed the problem. It was the front heat shield that was loose and making the noise.
