Hello everyone, I wanted to turn to my fellow vert brothas to ask for a little advice. So I was going to sell the vert but decided to keep it and stop being a lazy fuch and just start working on it again. I'm getting new shocks this weekend, car was sagging about an inch from one side cause of the blown shocks, and I'm getting the car aligned cause the bastard still shakes at 55mph. But it also has 164100 miles on it and Im wondering how much longer will that engine last. So if i want to keep the same engine (no sr20 cause my son drives this too and he's not ready for a sr20 engine trust me :squint: ) what should I replace or repair on this engine to keep it going longer? Is rebuilding the engine a wise choice over just gettting one with less miles? Thanks in advance for your help. :dblthumb:

If your tires wear out evenly, do the balance first, not the alignment. If engine works fine, don't do anything for now. Fix it if it breaks. I had all the problems at the same time, but I fixed them all and it runs like new now. Mine has 150,000+ miles and things went bad in this order.

- Removed upper chain giude: It started making rattle noise.
- Engine front seal: leaked like crazy, so under side of the car was completely trashed.
- Injector #1, #2, & #4: Car shook like crazy suddenly.
- Water pump: Car was in the garage and out of nowhere coolant was leaking under the pump. Replaced thermostat as well.

Replaced rear engine seal when I did the 5 speed swap and had just usual maintenance stuff like synthetic oil(Mobil 1), plugs and wires. Seems like my KA will run forever.

hey thanks for the advice. I already did a balance and the car shakes less but still shakes. One of the tires was off but it still does it. Thats the only reason why I dont bring it to work. The car had been saggin for awhile but now that I went with bigger tires on the rims the right side(sagging side) rubs on the tires whenever I make a left turn. again thanks for the help and I will def take your advice.

Look for oil leaks around the valve cover and inside the spark plug holes (while changing plugs).

Look for oil leaks on front and rear engine seals and transmission seals.

Not much else really needed. Many KAs are well over 200k without problems.

My s14 had 210k miles and the only problem it ever had was it burned oil. KA do last forever if you take care of them

You should be fine man, just keep her well maintained. As far as the vibrations go, lock the steering and jack up the front of the car. Hold the wheel from the sides (one hand on the left and one hand on the right) and wobble it. If there is slack there, thats a problem. Do the same but put your hands on the top and bottom of the wheel. It shouldn't wobble at all in any directions. If it does, then check tie rod ends, ball joints, etc.

Try to keep your current engine as well maintained as you can.

If you feel it starting to go, pick up a motor on the side that you can start rebuilding. KA's a crazy cheap and some people give them away.
