Greetings,

I'm looking into buying a Cusco LSD for my 1989 240SX. Currently I'm driving with the stock KA engine, but am planning to put in a SR20DET. My question is: will the LSD work with both engines, or are LSDs engine dependant?

Thanks,nomuken.

No, at least on a RWD vehicle like the 240sx. The differential is located at the rear of the car between the back tires. This has nothing to do with the engine, as long as the driveshaft connects the transmission to the differential, which it does.

engine==>transmission==>driveshaft==>differential

On FWD cars I guess the differential is more transmission dependant, although I'm not completely sure. In a FWD vehicle the differential is located inside the transmission itself.

Exactly. Hence the term "Transaxle." At least thats what my moms FSM called it on her accord.:D

I am planning on getting the entire S13 front clip which includes a transmission. So as long as the transmission hooks up to the stock US driveshaft, the LSD won't be affected?

As long as you retain the differential, there will be no effect.
