I have a 94 Nissan D21 w/ KA24E engine that has started to intermittently lose power out on the highway. Typical event: 50 mph, level road, 4th gear, 2 wheel drive, vehicle slows to 40 mph or so and does not respond to depressing accelerator pedal. I know the EGR valve or vacuum line is dirty/needs replaced as the check engine lite goes on and off because of this- verified code on computer monitor unit.
I have eliminated the catalytic convertor and fuel filter as possible problems.
Is the next logical step to look at the fuel injection pressure regulator or the fuel pump?
I don't presently have a gauge to check the system fuel pressure. It starts, idles, and accelerates fine.
Truck has about 190K on it. Original owner.
Troubleshooting advice is appreciated. I do have a Chilton's Manual for reference.
