i was wondering if any body can help me take out my engine light problem.it turned on because of a stupid friend forgetting to hook up the maf sensor. i tried everything it .

If you disconnect the ground cable from the battery for 24 hours the code will dump or you can go to the ecm and erase the code with the diag screw but you might want to do the ground cable if you aren't sure about the ecm diag screw.

so i'm going to try disconnecting it for one day but if that doesn't work then how will i get into the ecm, do i need a diagnostic computer.

I'm sorry this is pretty vague and useless I'm sure, but on the ECU, on the opposite side from the wiring harness, there is a little diagnostic light that you can see through a hole in the computer casing. You need to double check with a mechanic but I believe that you can use that light to diagnose the problem, and also there is a way to reset the ECU back on that side. (this is IF the 24hr thing doesn't work).

seems like an awful long time to disconnect the computer.I've heard of hondas and stuff for like a few minutes, but if it works....so be it

96 and up will not work that way the ECU has memory you will need to clear the memory unless its an s13.

My 98 won't dump a code like that John its saves them until I turn the screw.
