just bought a new intake cone filter and adapter to install on my 95 240sx. The only problem is I have a sensor there that needs to be set on the intake. If this isn't on there then the engine light comes on and stays on. I hate that goddamn light

Intake air temp sensor... it needs to be plugged in, as it's part of the MAF calibration for timing, and fuel enrichment.

or you can just zip tie it to something close to the filter, it will get the same reading

hmmm....I never noticed that on my old s14. Does it just measure ambient air temp to calculate air density or something?

used strictly for temp readings.

ya, it varies the the timing, advance for cool air, retard for hot air, ect... it just needs to be somewere near the filter so it can get a good idea of the air temp. just zip tie it to the maf or something close to the filter

yeah, I've seen blowers at wastewater plants with a SCADA dissolved oxygen control system using a similar thing, a resistive temperature detector, to measure ambient inlet air. It assumes colder ambient air is denser, and adjusts the blower speed and valving accordingly to maintain a certain DO level. Similar, I suppose, to the ECU adjusting timing to account for the changes in temp/density. Anyone correct me if I'm making the wrong assumptions.

so if your running a KA24eT if you put that on the hot side of the charge pipe before the intercooler ... it will sense the hot air therefore retard the timing automatically do you yourself do NOT have to retard the timing manuall???
