engine knockning when idling

k i have a 91 240 sx le and it runs great, the only problem is that it is making a knocking/clicking sound when it is idling. When you rev it up the sound goes away. the soung is coming from the engine and it is not consistant, but the tempo is pretty quick. could it be the timing chain??? anyone had this problem before? how did you fix it?

It only rattles at idle, that's a little weird. Either way if it sounds like it's going away check your timing chain guides, they are your number one source of rattle/click noise from the engine. If they have been removed, you may just have a bit of a valve tap.
