sounds like the throwout bearing. it is definitely related to the clutch dis-engagement.

does it make the same sound if it idles in neutral with the pedal not pushed in?

I believe it is the cluster gear in the transmission. If the noise goes away when the clutch is depressed or the engine RPM increased from idle to maybe 1100 RPM it is probably the cluster gear in the transmission. Not an uncommon noise on some of the cars I have owned with manual transmissions. My Versa does it when it has warmed up and especially if it is hot outside; goes away if I increase the engine rpm. I did have a problem with one car in 1974 that the clutch bellhousing had been cast too cold and was flawed and at idle there was too much flex between the engine and transmission. A new clutch bellhousing solved the problem.

@Promise Land

the noise is there when in neutral and it stated ar around 46000 miles and now its louder so im thinking i have 60 now and its annoying,I think im going to have to take it back to the dealer,once the clutch is pushed in i hear nothing and the dealer said he may be my injectors but this is a knock lol, now the throw out bearing should be covered under the powertrain right?

Does the noise go away with the clutch partially depressed or only when fully depressed? Does it quiet down if the rpm are increased to 1000 rpm. Has the oil level in the transmission been checked?

went to the dealer today any they wont touch it since im 300 miles over my warranty,but ive been there 2 times for that noise at 33,000 miles so im fighting between the extended warrany people and the dealer i bought it from to nissan in town gesh lol problem is the throw out bearing is a complete kit with the clutch...$563.00 and calls for a 9 hour mechanic job!! so thats 1400 to fix which i am not payn for a faulty bearing thats eventially gonna prematurely ware my clutch out. so hopefully by the end of the day Ill have good news, and thanks guys for the help.

I am not familiar with the operation of a hydraulic clutch operator. I know that on the old mechanical operator using a cable, that if the clutch was released, the bearing was backed away from the pressure plate fingers and would not probably be a source of noise at idle. The clutch disk itself can be a source of noise especially if the spline backlash is too big caused by broken springs on the disk.

welp after complaining to the owner of the dealership and calling nissan corp,the dealership finally called me and said they would fix it,so last night they put it on the lift and its not a throw out bearing,the noise is on the other side of the transmission,and the tech said nissan doesnt allow techs to take apart the transmission other than a seal or clutch so that means a new transmission at 60,000 miles which the noise stared at 43,000.They also said they dont have the tools for that transmission and its a 6speed so they have to get tools lol. just dandy.. :bs:

Hey, if they're paying for it, no complaints, right? I've heard too many stories where the dealer wiggles out of covering repairs, so count your blessings.

yes indeed, transmission is on back order,theres only one out there right now,so Im assuming Nissan hasnt been making any yet lol If I didnt take it in 20,000 miles ago i woulda been screwed and if its 1300 to replace a clutch I dont wanna know how much for a transmission and labor lol,so i guess i just gotta drive this one til it breaks.
