Hello. I am interested in a 240SX (KA24E) with an engine knock. Generally, I know that engine knock = rod knock. But I am certain there are ither causes for knocking.... like the need for an enine flush??... etc... some other ideas, plz... want to get this car... prolly will either way...

i highly doubt an engine flush will stop an engine knock.

its obviously a bottom end problem. bearing problem or rod problem maybe. you wont be able to really confirm much until you open the bottom end up. drop the pan and take a look.

Yeah...I was afraid not.. I have heard of cases where knocks started due to people using cheap grade gas (as wierd as it sounds)... I will pull the pan off after I get the car...

see...knocking because of gasoline is an intermittent knocking. if its a consistent knocking its mechanical. intermittent knocking or misfiring can be a number of things, such as fuel, ignition, timing, etc.
