I own a 1996 Nissan XE Truck with a KA24E engine (115k miles, manual). While driving the Engine will cut off or while idlingit will just cut off. It also sometimes sputters in Third gear. Then sometimes it just runs fine. I have done the followingFull tune-up(wires, plugs, PVC valve, Rotor and cap, Gas Filter)Replced both MAF sensors rear and frontReplaced both O2 Sensors front and RearReplaced Cam Sensor/DistributorReplaced EGR ValveCleaned IACV-ACCCleaned Throttle BodyI am on my last leg, all the above are OEM parts, I have invested almost $2k trying to get this fixed. No CEL codes. Does anyone have any other advice. Truck is in excellent shape besides this, one owner (me), well taken care of. I will take any suggestions or ideas! Thanks in advance!!

are you running rich at all? check your tps voltage not sure what it should be for the ka-e engine at idle and wide open throttle..check the fsm to find out...also how is your timing

Thanks, Timing is right on. I have not checked the TPS voltage. I will check my FMS and try that. Any other idea are very welcome. I want to keep the truck, my wife wants to trash it.

no dont let her trash it haha. it sounds like you arent getting fuel check your fuel pump fuse and fuel pump as well as injectors and you already checked your fuel filter right? it sounds like lack of fuel or a vacuum leak. im guessing your idle is also very rough right?

Yep, brand new fuel filter. Idle is fine, just sputters sometimes when in 3rd or 4th gear, 5 spd manual. I have not checked fuse yet. I will check the injectors as well. I will let you know. Could it be possible the Coolant Temp Sensor has anything to do with it. When I let it idle, after warmup, sometimes it will just cut-off. Like you mentioned its trying to receive fule and just cuts off. This has been the most challenged I have been on any vehicle. Thank goodness its my spare vehicle, but I want it to work!!

well if the engine is shutting off not because of weak idle then yes it is possible that it is the temp sensor. usually when your temp sensor goes bad though you wont be able to start your engine when its warm. this is because the ecu thinks the engine is cold so it sends more fuel than needed to start it and your engine floods..i dont think that is the problem as far as your engine shutting off but it is possible that the ecu is putting more fuel in than necessary..but like i said i dont think that is the case because you would be running very rich and it doesnt happen all the time..you said it only happens sometimes..its possible its just dirty though..maybe you should pull it out and clean it, it may be corroded.

Hey, just wanted to post that I finally fixed this. It ended up being the Mass Air Flow, I mistyped at the beginning of this thread, it should have been boost sensors (old terminology). So story short, you have to buy the MAF with the throttle body and it is expensive. But all i know is the problem is solved! Thanks for everyone's help!

just buy a used one from somebody through the classified section on here..people pull ka-e's all the time to put in de's or sr or whatever...check in there..much much cheaper
