I'f the car revs a little bit and the car moves foreward a little, then the problem lies in the IACV. When was the last time you performed a tune up? That usually fixes the problem.

I have that same problem. It jumps when im stopped at a light. mine doesnt rev up or move on its on, but it does jump. it only does it in drive. i have to put the car in neutral in order for it to stop for the moment. i brought it dealership and they cant find the problem and i took it to a transmission place and they cant find the problem. both places put it on diagnostic machine. both said come back whne engine light comes on. IM LOST and dont know what to do. its aggravating...PLEASE HELP

I have a similar problem which i truely think is my Trans... my car jumps also .. or really feels like its skipping gears.. when i come to a light and slow down and then accelerate again either fast or slow, my car lags a bit like the trans is not catchin and then just jumps into gear and pops..

Im not sure if these 2 issues from above and mine are the same .. but any ideas would be good..

I have been told that a transmission cleaning or tuneup could fix it.. but i havent had a chance to go..

if you guys have any ideas would be great...

Thx

it seems like it would be a good idea to do a transmission flush, tune up, and have that IAC checked out. upon refilling the trans, i would add a synthetic transmission additive to help with the hard shifts and any possible shudders. another thing you might have checked out ar the front and rear mounts (they are the mounts in the crossmember that runs underneath the engine/transmission) i used to have very similar problems that you all are explaining and this is what i have done since then and now i have no problems. well, except one, my car wants to shift on its own all the time, oh wait, its an automatic

i happen to ask this guy at my job if his wife(which has a 99 nissan maxima) had any problems that we are all havin and he said yea. his wifes car does the same **** as mine, but hers is worse. he said his mechanich works for BMW dealership and he put the car on their diagnostic machine and they found EXACTLY what it was. its the Oxygen EXAUSHST Sensor. he said the parts are 258 per sensor. she happens to need for of them. the gas insnt gettin to engine. its gettin reroute due to valves. what im sayin probaly doesnt make sense cuz im skippin or leavin things out, but what he said is tru for my situation and hers. im not sure about u guys.

Why would you take a Nissan to a BMW dealer?

And the spell check button is your friend.
