your probably getting ticking from your rocker arms, they have a little hydraulic lifters in them that can get stuck or collapse. there is a write up about them on the tech page i believe. check it out. :dblthumb:

Could be the chain guide. Take it off before it comes off on its own. And if that doesn't do it it may be time to bleed and reshim the lifters.

how much are new timing chain guides? i'm assuming i'll have to replace it if it's bad? and i just did an oil change but it's still ticking so i might try to find a set of lifters and a cam for cheap.

Guides are to be removed and not replaced, its a Nissan TSB. Dont replace the lifters, just have them shimmed (valve adjustment, lash adjustement). And check oil pressure.

how do you check the oil pressure what tools do you need and how do you hook them up? also how do you pull the chain guide off and will it mess up my timing or put more slack in the chain if i pull the guide out?

i believe you have a sohc motor and if you do you need to replace those guides with metal backed ones and to do so just follow the fsm. as far as the oil pressure goes you can get a gauge and sending unit from autometer, i believe you will need a sandwitch plate for your oil filter assembly to install it, or you can get an oil pressure tester but they can be a pain to use as you still need to find a place to hook it up (get the one with the most adapters!!)

That lifter write up isn't useable.I tried it and I can't remove the lifters at all just a heads up.
