engine is skipping

i just bought a 94 maxima and the wires and plug have been changed and i started the car and put a piece of paper at the exhaust tail pipe to see if it would suck the paper in but it didnt so can i please get some help in thomaston georgia

Well, considering that the exhaust is not meant to suck anything in but, rather to blow it out, which is why they call it an "exhaust". If it was meant to suck things in, they would call it an "intake". Your car already has one of those and it is regulated by the throttle body.

You forgot to flip the switch from blow to suck?

Car needs to be in reverse for the exhaust to have suction, I think the rpms need to be above 2500 though for it have a good vacuum.

If it still doesn't have good suction, might want to check the plug gap.

You are 33, a diesel mechanic and you believe the exhaust pipe should suck in paper?

Well, I knew what you were doing,in the old school that was the way we checked for burnt valves. If you have a burnt valve that piece of paper would pop loud. Sounds like you don't have a burnt valve.

How in the world would the engine suck air through the exhaust if the car was in reverse? An internal combustion engine does not work that way; not on planet earth anyways.
