Well the engine finally went in but not without a fight! I was just wondering... when i dropped it in i had to slide the driver's side motor mount up all the way to get the engine to sit on both mounts... is this gonna cause a problem? I noticed when i took out the ka that the motor mounts for that were slid all the way to the bottom. Anyone have any insight on this? I'll have pics soon i just gotta upload 'em. I was just so excited that i finally got the engine in that i had to post right away.

Oh yeah.. part of the struggle might have been because i was putting the engine in with the transmission still attached! i dunno if anyone else has done this but i wouldn't reccomend it.:ylsuper

That is the easiest way to do it! I couldn't imagine wrestling that transmission up back onto the motor with it in the car. I almost died of exhaustion today just trying to get the driveshaft back in! The stupid thing did NOT want to slide back in. It took 2 people and 3 jacks to get it back in. Testament to my super stiff home made urethane mounts.

Motor took us 15 minutes to slide in, and another 20 to get fully bolted back in. No mods needed, but we had to to have someone one (me) under the car to push up on the transmission so that we could get it to slide over the crossmember and into the tunnel. Fun.

To be honest, the swap is pretty straight forward. Not ahrd per se, just a lot of things to get done. Day one (8 hours) a lot of joking around and the mayonaise filled KA came out. Next day, (about 6 hours) we got the CA cleaned up, emissions/vac lines removed, a/c removed, p/s hooked up, bolted up, and most of the stuff on it. Day 3 (8 hours) fixing harness, mounting IC, fuel, spark, and cranking it. Really, not a hard thing to do.

Now getting it to run RIGHT is the challenge...;)

BTW, got the motor from http://www.jhotexports.com $1282 shipped to my door, but forgot the hoist, so me and 4 close friends had to get it out of the delivery truck. Not fun.
