I spent this past weekend swaping out my KA for the RB25DET. I removed the KA friday night and painted the engine bay silver to match my car. I then mounted up the RB saturday moring and spent most of the day hooking stuff up (Hoses, suspesion, ext.) Today I did the "8 step wirering" and got it running. Started up on the first try!! Runs very smoothly. I did't wire up and of the transmission sensors or oil pressure sensor. The only problem is the car won't rev up. It sounds like it cuts out around 1800-2000 and it sounds like a rev limiter is kicking in. I have all the charge piping on and secure and all the vacum ports that are not being used pluged. Are any of the sensors on the lower harness needed to make it rev up?

Mine had that problem when I had a boost leak. What RPM does it idle at (if you had to guess) Might be in some kind of "safe mode"

congrats!!fortunately I didn't have that problem but do a search for "safe mode", as I do remember reading someone having that problem on here at some point.

Safe mode would be at 3,000 RPM's if I remeber correctly. I guess I will have to wire up the diagnostic conector and check engine light to get it to work. I know the boost controler is not hooked up wtih the vacum lines (it is with the electrical conector. Also the boost presure sensor isn't hooked up but I think that is only for the gauge right? Was anyone else shifter really high when the engine was in place? It is like 3-4 inches higher then the stock KA one. I guess I will want to cut it.

Yes!! I didn't think anyone was doing the RB swap in the Philly area. It's so glad to see that there's one going on as I'd like to get my swap going sometime this year (I have an s13 too). Good luck and keep us posted!-kouki:D

It does sit a bit forward, but nothing you cant deal with/get used to. Doesnt interfere with performance at all. At least on mine it was that way.

The one thing I don't like about the shifter is it's way to high. The thow isn't too long but I have to reach up for it. I didn't put my console cover back over the shifter but I think it ay touch.

So anyone know how to wire up the gauges or and transmission harness?

If I follow the wire on the curcuit board it seams to be a ground for most of the guages but when I ground the wire it blows the fuse for the gauges. Also the Grey/red wire at the ECU according to my diagrams is for the speed sensor input (pin 53) but that wire is used it the 8 step program to guve power to the ECU. Am I wrong about pin 53 being the speed sensor input? http://www.meggala.com/rb25detenglish.html
