hello, last year when i installed my short ram intake on my 95, the check engine light came on after i was done, so i unplugged my battery for 24 hours to reset the ECU. well the other day, i disconnected my intake system, tried to coneect pipes, etc to make a cold air extension, but each time i started my car it would die when i gave it gas, i kept checking the pipes and after tightening down the rubber hoses, etc 5-6times the car ran normal, except that the eninge light came on and today after a 24 hour period it doesnt go away any mnore, and ideas?

check all your connections for intake temp sensor and your airflow meter you still have something disconnected.

Isn't the minimum time to reset the ECU something on the order of minutes? 24 hours seems like a long time. I really don't know, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

yea easiest way is to disconnect both battery cables and hold them together for 30 secs. that will pretty much discharge everything.

yea once the cables are off you use a tie wrap to hold them together and just leave it,come back to it when your ready to go somewhere or what ever. in your case though if you left it for 24 hrs if you didnt still have a failure the light should of went out. that pocess wont work on 96 and up cars though cause the code is burned into a chip in the ecm. unless you have a scaner you cant erase codes from these cars unless you fixed the failure and the car tested it self as good.

you are going to have to find your failure. pull your codes. the code you have is a hard failure if it is coming on right away. most likley a electical connection problem.

hmm i double checked all sensors and hoses, and put tothether the two cables for 20 minutes and still its on!! could something have gotten in and ruined my engine? or maybe there is more air getting in and its not used to it? it seems to difficult to mess with my KA24DE and i dont want to screw anything up anymore.. *sigh* thanks anyway for all the help!!

pull the codes and see what is causing the light to come on. it will send you in the right direction.
