Ok as mentioned before I just put a used engine in a 90 Q45.

1. Now I notice that it takes a lot of cranks to start the car even though it was fine when the engine was first complete.

2.I also notice that when I accelerate and then come to a stop, the car shuts off and I have to restart, especially after a quick or sudden stop.

3. I can only rev the engine up to 3000 rpm and the accelerator seems to almost be at the floor (not enough play).

Can anybody offer any tips? I'm not too mechanically inclined but it seems like the first two are related....fuel related, and the last one is????

I guess what we would have to know first is what was done to recondition the installed take-out engine before it was installed?

What is the car's previous maintenance history, especially with respect to the fuel system?

1. Don't have any history on the car concerning the fuel system.

2. The only thing I saw that was done (I'm sure there was more though) is all of the hoses were replaced, new platinum NGK PFR6B-11 plugs, and all of the fluids. Sorry, that's all I know.

Go to the dealer or Infiniti Customer Service and submit the VIN for a dealer performed maintenance history.

May not be complete, but will be a start.

And what about the first question?

Sorry, #2 was the answer to that. I already called the dealer to try and get the history through a vendor communication but all they show is who owned it the first time. Most of the service must have been done at independent shops.
