03 350z ingested water and locked engine. Removed plugs and cleared cylinders, changed oil and filter. Now runs but has clatter. Sounds like coming from upper area near cyl.#2. On a pushrod engine would suspect bent push rod, damaged rocker arm or lifter. Removed valve cover and timing cover. No obvious damage.
Any ideas as to what is causing the noise? Don't want to pull the head and find nothing.
Thanks

Hydrolocking rarely affects the top end or timing components. It's the sudden stop at the top of an intake stroke that does the damage, and that shock is exclusively transmitted to the bottom end of the stopped cylinder. Most likely you're looking at a slightly-bent connecting rod on #2.

Was afraid of something like that. Hope the rod can be removed w/o pulling the engine.
Thanks for your advice.

Wish it was happier news, but you're most welcome.
