92q,123000mi.purred like a cat till startup this AM.There is just a slight but definite continuous bouncy sensation that continues with inccreasing rpm.Performance is essentially unchanged.ABS light is on.I have a leaky master cyclinder. The leak is at the inner(engine)side from a raised 1/4in.port like tit. Help. kevin

Did the ABS light come on at the same time as your hopping problem? The bouncing sounds more like a dead miss on one cylinder (typically this is a failed injector). Run a search for "injector ohm test" for more info on testing.

The ABS light could be a bad relay, etc. When you mentioned the leaky master cylinder, is it the master cylinder on the left side of the engine bay, or the ABS actuator on the right firewall? The "1/4in.port like tit" sounds more like a bleeder valve, which would only be found on the ABS actuator.

Thanks Heath for promt helpful reply.Injector hypothesis seems right.Link helpful.Plan to try BG44K per Daedalus first. Can i run the car as is without increasimg damage? The master cylinder on the left side leaks out of a port like area on the engine side at the middle of the cylinder. Is there a plug that has dropped out ? kevin

My experience with injector cleaners, is that if you have a dead miss, it's probably too late for the cleaner to work. Certainly worth a try though.

I just checked, and indeed there is a little port-like thing in the middle of the cylinder. I've never heard of a leak there before, but it does look like a small black plug in there in the replacement in the box waiting to go on, and on the one on the car that's leaking. I don't see any mention of the port in the service manual, so I have no idea what it's for. Probably best to just replace the master cylinder.

I agree with that....probably not something a cleaner can help with. The ohm test will confirm a bad injector (or possibly harness).http://home.socal.rr.com/robverna/injks.htm

Decided to test resistance and following excellent photos i was not able to get readings. The tang at the position where cylinders 1735 are connected to(in the 4 slot connector) has no metal slot.I'm uncertain in my use of the testor.Does the battery have to be disconnected?I get a persistent read of 0.L Prior to checking the connections, the engine all of a sudden ran smooth again and the ABS light went out! Help. kev9in

Maybe you're having alternator problems? The ABS light doubles as a low voltage indicator. You might have it load tested.

heath,I was able to check the resistance at the connecters and got levels of 9.1 to 10.1.When the connecters were put together, the car is now running smooth.I need to check the altenator still. Now the key is sticking in the ignition.Do i have to replace it?The button on the collum is not pushing in.Also what's the skinny on the 96q.Are repairs and performance similar to my 92? kevin

Take off the bezel surrounding the giniton key (shown in owners manual) there is a emergency release for the key there.

Wiggling it real quick+ real short, can also get the key out ususally.lubricate the lock with some graphite lube, to prevent having to wiggle the key, to get it out, as that will wear out the lock more (or are you in "N" instead of "P"?)

Sometimes, its the key thats worn and getting a brand new infinti key will solve problem.

96 Q's have a number of improvements, mostly to reliability and featuresBut a 92Q can be very reliable if well maintained with an eye to its easily conqerable quirks.

Also 96's gained a little weight vs a 92, and lost a little power vs a 92.
