Hello, I promote a regional circle track race truck class and one of my drivers has run into a little dilemma. He apparently didn't read the rules close enough and got a truck with a 12 valve engine. We only allow 8 valve. He is trying to decide what is going to be the most cost effective and easiest way to go with an engine change. He was told that an 8 valve head would bolt on to the block he has now, which would be the most simple solution if it is true. He could do an engine swap also (wants to remain fuel injected), but questions whether the engine will bolt to the bellhousing. Any thoughts or ideas?

Are the heads both from the same series of engine? If the blocks are both the same letter designation and the timing drive the same on the front of the head than it should work. Be sure to compare the water and oil passages on the two heads to confirm they are the same.

sr20 would be a bit more complicated to swap in
with the ka24de you can use the stock harness

I was reading some forums today and they where saying that I could use the same ecu but had to buy a new harness for the ka24de and use the clip off my old one they said all the wires are the same color just had to match them up it also said that I would some wires left over where it's a newer motor what do you think???

im using my stock harness but i did delete alot of plugs and sensors.
im basically just running the injectors tps dizzy and map
with the standalone ecu im running i could delete alot of stuff
i didnt do the swap with the stock ecu so im not 100% sure but im pretty sure the stock ecu and harness should work.

So do you think it would be better to just go ahead buy a ecu out of a 240? I don't have a hole lot of money left after buying the motor so should I try the stock ecu first

i dont know how much money you saved up to do this swap but de dont go for too much. and i would try to start it up on the stock ecu and if worst come to worst you can go to a junkie and get one out of a 240
