Ran into some problems with the 2010 G37x and took awhile for the dealer to find the problem. Ultimately, this is what I am being told.
The main engine harness plug boot was missing, which is what lead to water damage, The main engine harness connector is behind the battery under a plastic molding, which when it rains can have water come through. The boot that normally covers where both parts of the engine harness connect, from what I've been told does come with new harness. I personally haven't seen this myself, but talking to an advisor who has been working for the company for many years has seen this kind of thing happen, its not very often that it does, but there is always a chance it can. The issue that is with your vehicle is that the engine harness boot isn't there and it allowed water to hit where they connect which lead to the wires corroding there.
Here is the dealer estimate:
Parts are as listed.
BCM (284B1-1nc5b)-$512.93
Harness has 2 parts
24011-1bn0b -$1167.27
24012-1nf0a -$2184.20
Labor - $2,599.00 (20 hours)
Tax - $231.86
Total - $6,695.26 (They offered to do it for $5,826.26)
Does this estimate seem reasonable?
Anyone ever heard of this problem?
The car has 85,000 miles on it and wondering if it is worth dumping this much money into the car.
