Just put a new engine in 1989 Pathfinder. old one had 204,000 miles, still ran, used oil. Bolted everything back on, engine starts right up. idles, but, under a load, its gutless and I cannot apply gas unless I ease it..It will then come up to speed, but, there is really no power. I checked the OBD1 computer, came up code 55, No MalfunctionI realize OBD1 is not as sensitive as OBD2 and you almost have to cut wires or remove sensors to get a failure code.Mechanics of new engine are perfect and old engine ran fine with everything attached thats now on new one..Anyone have any thoughts??Oh, also, When I remove gas cap,I believe there is excessive air in tank.Would vaccuum lines not being exact cause this, or maybe ignition coil not up to snuff? I am lost, any ideas would be appreciated, Thanks. Tim

Air comming of of the gas tank when the fuel cap is removed is normal.

Check the fuel supply, vacuum leak...Hell consult the service manual for more help: http://Nicoclub.com/FSM

Yeah , have air or vapor that comes out of tank when cap is removed, since fuel system is pressurised..

But, I am talking about a tornado blowing out strong for 4 to 5 seconds..

Found out the guy who was helping accidentally had the fuel tank vaccuum hose from Canister hooked to throttle body lower....so, I was getting air forced into tank, thanks for your advice though,

Problem solved...Have a good one. Tim
