engine gets to normal operating temp then shuts off and wont start

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

i changed the coil, control module, plugs, wires, cap and rotor. i can drive the car about 3 miles then it shuts off and when i try to start it it just cranks forever because it isnt getting any spark.then i let it sit for at least 30 minutes and it starts up again like nothing happened, but the same thing happens again.

i just put a tach in it and when i plugged the ecu back in it cranked forever untill i realized i didn't put it back on all the way, then it worked fine, but this problem started the day after all that

could i need a new ecu or any other thing that could be the problem??

i would really appreciate any help =]

check your altinator first..and fuses..get back to us...if your altinator went on ya..it would run off of the battery for a while then die out...so start there.

i know the fuses are fine because i check them everytime it happens, the alternator should be fine, because if it ran off the battery then it would be dead when the car dies, and it wouldn't crank over after it dies

Always go back to the last thing you did.

Remove the new Tach and see if the problem goes away. If not then double check your install.

Something is obvusly getting overheated and you need to wait for it to cool down. It will take time but start checking things by useing a heat gun (like for shrink tubing) or Hair dryer and warm up individual parts you want to check. eventualy you will find one part that wont let you start the car.

i unplugged the tach and it still wouldn't start so i dont think thats it, but the blow dryer thing is a really good idea, ill check it out and report back thanks

oh yeah, and i bought an ecu and im still having the same problem, im thinking maybe the old ecu fried the new control module since the problem stopped for a while when i got the new one, im not sure yet, i'll warranty mine for a new one tomorrow.

yeah i heated the module up with a blow dryer and it wouldnt start, so the new one should fix it, the car overheated a while ago so that might have fried the new module, im getting the new new one today so i'll let you guys know how it goes
