Man i am really feeling stupid. In the FAQs there lists a Nissan part number for a complete gasket set for a CA18DET that has been discontinued by Nissan. And i know 99% of the parts from a 88 Nissan Pulsar SE cross over to the CA18det. But what about the Nissan Sunny turbo/Nissan Skyline? Specifically the 1988 Nissan Sunny turbo. Is that the same as a Pulsar? Im trying to find a gasket set and i want it to be as complete as possible (and i dont feel like paying $250 on Ebay for something i can get for $99 from Flatlanderracing.com).

Please go easy on me, foreign engines are new to me.Jason

Yeah, i think i just answered my own question: the Nissan Sunny is the Euro version of the Nissan Pulsar.

Did your gasket set come with new injector O-rings? Oil pan gasket? Front and rear main seals? If so, where did you order it from and for how much?

Thanks.

Yes, new O-rings, valve stem seals, front and rear main seals, and oil pan gasket. Funny because the FSM says silicone should be used for the pan. This weekend im starting the assembly so if I notice anything wrong or missing ill post it in here for you to see. Well to start off I first ordered the kit from a canadian company called Hi-Performance.com. They went out of business a month later. Finally got my kit, and turns out it was just the block gaskets they sent along with the piston rings and all bearings. At least they gave me a refund. The remainder of the kit I got from a Montreal company that my suzuki dealer does business with. Should have gone with them in the first place. Total was around 350$ Can.

I installed about 70% of the gaskets so far and everything is perfect.

Awesome. I ordered a gasket set from Importperformanceparts.net, but it has yet to arrive. Meanwhile, i just keep taking stuff apart and cleaning it. I also ordered a new timing belt and a Cometic metal head gasket, as well as some ARP head studs from Ebay. My tubular manifold got here today and i hung it on the exhaust studs. It looks AWESOME. And it doesnt look i need to reinforce anything. Last saturday i brought the turbo up to work and cleaned it and ran some compressed air thru the exhaust side. I was pleasantly surprised by how it worked. This is going to be one awesome engine when im finished!

Hey, jiggy180, did you have a hard time seperating the upper intake plenum from the lower? I fought that thing for over an hour! Have yet to get the head off, but im in no rush.

Yes the FSM says to use Nissan RTV or equivalent gasket sealer. I haven't heard or seen anything about an oil pan gasket for a CA18DE(T). Maybe you found something we didnt know about? Either way, i used Nissan RTV.

I got an oil pan gasket kit that came with a cork gasket and it leaks. Use RTV and then the rubber seals on the end.

Thanks for that bit of info! I listened to the FSM and threw out the cork gasket and just used silicone.

As for the intake, I had zero problems with it. My biggest problem was the gear in back of the crank pulley. Even that stood no chance against jiggy. I should post up some pics later this evening of my progress in my old thread. Its not as pimp as Davids though!

Well I screwed up, my kit does not have the o-rings for the injectors. Im gonna have to order them seperately. Maybe it's just my kit, hopefully you'll have 'em.

My name is Jason too, although I prefer Jay.

Also missing the throttle body gasket from the kit. The idle air control gasket was included but it isnt the exact same as the old one, im gonna have to make my own gasket. These are the only things I have noticed during the rebuild. Good luck.

Wouldnt ya know it, after all the research i did, i STILL managed to order the wrong gasket set. I got it for a SOHC CA18ET. So now i have to send it back and have the correct one shipped. But i did order a Cometic headgasket and Calico coated rod and main bearings, to go along with my ARP head studs. I want this bottom to be bullet proof, so i can upgrade the turbo later and never need to worry about anything.
