what if you ran a Vortech 6:1 FMU with SR20 370cc injectors, or would that dump too much fuel up top, and not enough down below? even when tuned with a Apex'i AFC II?

I think the hacked MAF is starting to sound more accurate than a FMU, funny :D

any ideas or suggestions, or other thoughts peopel have been having are welcome...

I've since figured out what I'm gonna do, I'm gonna go with 370s and a hacked MAF, with a Apex'i AFC II for final tuning, along with a wideband O2 to help with that tuning

hahah...right now I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to afford it...in a couple weeks I'll buy my first part, I got a deal on the AFC II, a friend has a Special Edition one, with the black face, instead of blue, selling it to me for $300.

The thing that sucks about my case is that I've got $4600 worth of parts I need before I'm gonna start, so it'll be a while, especially working part time at minimum wage...grrrrr...

AFC- $300Wideband - $400370cc'ers - $100FMU - $60-100Total- Close to $900 and STILL no timing adjustment.

If i were you i'd go JWT or SDS before i spend this much money. Just a thought.

thanks for the timing suggestion, I forgot about that, but don't you think stock is fine with just 7-10psi? Isn't there a tiny bit of adjustment in the stock system, enough atleast? I know the DE has electronic ignition control, so screwing with the distributor doesn't do a whole lot when compared to the SOHC

and my adjusted set-up looks more like this:

AFC-300Wideband-250 (techedge kit, I have to assemble it)370s-100EGT-150

If I got a JWT it'd be 600 PLUS the 370s, and it won't be tailored to MY system, I'd get less power than if I tuned it myself. I've also looked at SDS, and I don't like the little box, just my feeling towards it, I know lots of people run it with good results, I just don't like it much.

Also, with timing, can't I just get an aftermarket ignition system? something that'll allow me to play with timing?

i've got the SAFC on now (with the hacked MAF). it's pretty much zero'ed out and running fine. can't really do much untill i get to a dyno.

Why not spend the money on an emanage, Then you control timing with 16x16 cells of adjustment and another 16x16 for the airflow adjustment. Not to mention it will adjust for the the 370 injectors and a possible AFM change such as a Z32. Check for pricing I got my emanage plus injector harnes and ignition harness for 320 shipped new. The software can be bought for 120 but I here someone does it 40 with cable. Gives you a lot more control for not much more money. Except for course the laptop.

but there's so many little add-ons that add-UP with the e-manage, I like the AFC II and hacked MAF set-up...this is not an engine I'm going to be building...so I don't feel I'd use the e-Manage to its fullest, this will be a strict 7-10psi KA-T set-up...I have a problem reminding myself that I'm going mild...I need to go back through my suspension list, it seems I've gone a little overboard and planned to modify every single suspension link, which I might still do,

I know there's better ways to do thing, and e-Manage is good and all, but I like to know exactly what's going on, and even though the e-Manage allows for that tuning, it's not telling me an accurate A/F ratio (stock O2 sensor is JUNK) or a EGT of any sort, so add that onto it, and my setup comes out to be cheaper,

the thing I don't like about the e-Manage is the fact that I have to go buy a laptop, I can't afford that ontop of the e-Manage, I don't want to have to carry that thing around with me,

Xero, i like the way u want to do ur set-up alot this is very similar to the way that i want to set up my fuel system so if u decide to continue with the hacked MAF, 370cc,SAFC keep me updated. im also not trying to do any real big numbers just 7-12psi. i still have a couple months before i really get started with my kit but i want to see how ur set-up turns out. oh yea, and lab tops are getting pretty cheap if u get a really basic one, which is all u need
